Eco Recycling conducted a study on behalf of ENI regarding the conceptual design of the process for treating LFP (lithium iron phosphate) cathode plates and obtaining active cathode material (CAM). After analyzing the process designed and patented by ENI, Eco Recycling assisted in identifying the best method for recovering the active cathode material and provided a preliminary design for a dedicated prototype. It also conducted a pre-feasibility analysis with an accompanying risk assessment.
Eco Recycling completed the "Evaluation of the engineering of an A2A process for the hydrometallurgical treatment of NMC electrode powder and the execution of an experimental campaign on Eco Recycling's pilot units."
After evaluating the engineering of the process developed by the client, Eco Recycling reassembled its pilot units to implement the process. It developed and executed a test protocol that allowed for the quantification of the material and energy balances. These balances were used to compare the proposed process with an Eco Recycling process focused on the recovery of cathode material.
